In America the two names are often used as if they mean the same thing. They don’t. They began as two very different meals, and at Blue Thistle we serve each one the way it was meant to be.

Afternoon tea

Born in 1840s England, when Anna, Duchess of Bedford, began taking tea and a little something to bridge the long hours between lunch and dinner. It was served at low parlor tables, which is why it is sometimes called “low tea.” A refined pause, not a full meal.
